Baleba Carlos Puts Indomitable Lions On Halt

Cameroonian prodigy Carlos Baleba has admitted that he is not thinking of the Indomitable Lions, at least, not for now, on an interview accorded to Lille’s official web site.

A year after his departure from Ecole de Foot Brasseries du Cameroun to France, in January 2022, Carlos Baleba is already leaving a blueprint with Lille.

Due to André Gomes’ injury, the 19-year-old midfielder has had four starts in midfield, all while being convincing despite his young age.

However, the Douala native has not prioritized the Indomitable Lions at the moment.

The lad thinks first of career progress
“On social media, I read Cameroonians saying they wanted me in the squad for the World Cup. But that’s not really what I have in mind. For me, it’s to play, to move forward, to progress, to improve my game. I’m only 19, I have time, I don’t want to rush. I want my team to win games, everyone to be happy. So no, currently I am not thinking about the selection, ” aired the midfeilder on the official website of LOSC.

Carlos Baleba is yet to represent any of Cameroon’s junior set-ups and that is because of the scrapped 2021 U17 AFCON in Morocco. He was selected in Cameroon’s final list, but the competition did not happen. However, the teenage sensation had the opportunity to meet Cameroon’s FA boss Samuel Eto’o, who had some career building words for him;

“I told him (Eto’o; editor’s pick) the ambition I had in my heart which would be, one day, to win the African Cup or the World Cup with my country. It’s not for now, but it’s my dream.”

Baleba looks to continue his growth with Lille, where everyone seems to be happy with him, including head coach Paulo Fonseca.
