Baleba, Nchindo receive fresh call-ups as Kunde & Ngadeu return to Lions’ den

In the list viewed by sportglitz, Belgian tactician, Marc Brys, has made a head start to resuscitate the 5-time African champions, after an embarrassing round 16 exit against Nigeria at the AFCON in January.

Out-of-site Besiktas forward Vincent Aboubakar is in the 31-man shortlist of Marc Brys ahead of the two games against Cape Verde and Angola in June.

The skipper has faced turbulent times since January where he played just 15 minutes of the AFCON in January. Aboubakar has scored 4 goals and dished out one assist in 21 games this season.

Yong sports Academy skipper, Nchindo John Bosco has rightfully earned his place in the den after almost carrying his team to a fist Elite One title, scoring 13 goals in the process.

The Elite One top scorer, Astres’ Jules Armand Kooh has equally made the shortlist having netted 22 goals in the regular season and play “downs”.

Simon Omossola returns to the selection since his last call which came in 2021. He is listed alongside Simon Ngapandouetnbu and Manchester United’s Andre Onana, fresh from receiving his April save of the EPL award.

In defense, the big news is the return of Michael Ngadeu of Beijing Gouan after a one-and half year absence since his contribution to Cameroon’s 2022 world Cup qualification.

Nouhou Tolo, Jean Charles Castelletto and Christopher Wooh all maintain their places from the AFCON.

Oumar Gonzalez has not been called prolly as an aftermath of his poor showing at the AFCON.

École de Foot graduate and Golden Boy nominee, Carlos Baleba has been given the nod as one of 6 midfielders to be called up by Mard Brys.

The lad has played has so far played just over 24 matches for Brighton in his debut season at the Amex.

Franck Zambo Anguissa keeps his place in the mid, accompanied by Pierre Kunde (making his return), Martin Hongla and Olivier Ntcam.

Lots is expected of Bryan Mbeumo in the Marc Brys era, as shown when the gaffer visited Brentford.

The 8 goal and 5 assist striker who has been linked with a move away from Brentford is expected to make up for missing out of the AFCON due to an injury.

Bayern’s veteran, Choupo-Moting has been recalled. Bassogog, Nkoudou and Moumbagna make up part of the attacking compartment.

Despite the back and forth by the country’s minister of sports and the Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT), it has been confirmed that Marc Brys will lead the technical bench, despite few changes later made with regards to other staff by FECAFOOT excom.

Cameroon are on 4 points and need huge performances in successive games against Angola and Cape Verde to keep their 2026 World Cup hopes alive.

The Cameroon against Cape Verde game is scheduled for June 3 at the Omnisport stadium in Yaounde.

Cameroon stands at 4 points in group D, level with Libya and Cape Verde.
