Algeria will not participate in the next edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco in July, after Algeria was eliminated by the Banyana-Banyana of South Africa on Wednesday after the last round of the playoffs.

The two separated with a parity score of 1-1, but the South Africans won the first leg 2-0 in Johannesburg. SA then completed the pack of 12 countries qualified for the 2022 African Cup of Nations. The teams include; Morocco (host country), Nigeria, defending champion, South Africa, Cameroon, Uganda, Burundi, Zambia, Senegal, Togo, Burkina Faso, Tunisia and Zimbabwe.

After her defeat in Johannesburg (2-0), a week ago, Algeria hoped to reverse the trend at home, on Wednesday, in the return match of the qualifiers.
