Beach Soccer AFCON: ‘Invincible’ Senegal Wins 4th In A Row

Senegal won its 7th Beach Soccer AFCON and 4th in a row, on Friday October 28, 2022 by defeating Egypt on penalties 6-5 after a 2-2 draw in regular time.

Egypt losing to Senegal in the finals is becoming a thing. After the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, the Teranga Lions again hurt the Pharaohs and this time, in Mozambique on sandy grounds.

Senegal has become the most dreaded Beach Soccer country in Africa.

From 2006 till date (11 editions), Senegal has won seven (7) titles including four times in succession.

Mamadou Diallo, former assistant to the legendary Senegalese coach Ngalla Sylla, won his first as head coach. Since inception, only Cameroon, Nigeria, Madagascar and Senegal have been able to obtain gold since the start of the competition.
