Ben Elliott Picked Cameroon, The ‘Easy Choice’

A few weeks after he was summoned to the Cameroon national team, Ben Elliot Njongoue, in an interview with FECAFOOT TV, explained that his choice was easy: “I received a call from the coach who asked me if I wanted to play for the Cameroon. As a Cameroonian, it was an easy decision for me. I was very happy. I didn’t think twice.

“Cameroon is a great footballing nation and there are good players here. I watched all the AFCON matches and even the World Cup. Yes I am delighted to come,” said the Chelsea FC midfielder. Nevertheless, the London-born native did not have the opportunity to play his first minutes with the Indomitable Lions, due to administrative problems, but took part in the training sessions which he describes as very high:

“My first stay in Cameroon was really happy. The training was really good. Everyone welcomed me, the players, the staff. Here, people are really passionate about football. I love this atmosphere around the team,” he added.

Later in the exchange, Ben Elliot quoted Samuel Eto’o as the best player of all time, according to him: “My best player of all time, Samuel Eto’o. Because he was a super striker. I saw him with FC Barcelona and also with the national team, always among the top scorers. He didn’t just score goals, he was a very great player,” he ended.
