Benjamin Moukandjo Retires Professional Football Aged 34

2017 Indomitable Lions skipper and AFCON winner, Benjamin Moukandjo has announced his retirement from professional football, aged 34.

The forward took to his Instagram handle to officially bring to an end what has been a modest footballing career for clubs and country.

Moukandjo had earlier announced his retirement from international football in 2019, while playing for Beijing Renhe in China. A decision that was provoked by his non-selection by coach Clarence Seedorf on the occasion of match day 2 of the AFCON 2019 qualifiers.

Three years on, the journey man currently without club after playing for A.E Larisa in Greece, has adjudged this to be the best moment to call it quit.

Moukandjo played across 14 clubs with over 92 professional goals to his name. He famously captained the Indomitable Lions to their fifth triumph in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2017.
