Bertin Ngemaleu’s converted Pen. Bridge Renard’s first-round invincibility
Stade Renard’s first round invincibility came to an abrupt end after a shock defeat to in-form UMS Loum, courtesy a 51st minute converted penalty by Bertin Ngemaleu.
Coach Souleymanou Aboubakar and his side have lined up successive wins after a 2-1 win over Apejes on game day 8.
How awkward it was, that former Stade Renard gaffer, Souleymanou Aboubakar led UMS to the charge against the
Melong-based outfit.
Stade Renard looked comfortable and dominated proceedings from the first minute of the game. However, Roger Emga and co were not able to conclude moves in the final third.
UMS came back for the second segment, looking fresher of the two and caught Stade Renard napping.
After a defensive mix-up between Kamale and Bella Foe, Dipitta Frank pounced but he was pecked back.
The Stade Renard bench marshalled by coach David Pagou led the protest but Ngamaleu was unfazed when given the referee’s ‘okay’, as he gave goalkeeper Kerrido the eyes for 1-0 UMS at the 51st minute.
The game went on to end without change. UMS claimed bragging rights and move to 3rd with 10 points in pool B, while Renard keeps its lead in group B with 19 points.
