Boumal Joins Yahaya At Ujpest

Petrus Boumal, 28, has penned at Újpest from Russian top-flight side Nizhny Novgorod, joining his compatriot, Abdoulaye Yahaya.

Boumal has previously toured around clubs in Turkey, Bulgaria and France, and donned the Indomitable Lions kit – most recently, in the 2019 AFCON.

“The kind reception is very good and I am very grateful to the club for the opportunity to get here. Yesterday I already had the opportunity to move with the team and meet the coaches. They had a good impression on me, they are very positive, I look forward to working with them. I talked to a few guys, obviously first French native speakers, and they said good things about the club.

”I am happy to be here and face all the challenges. The Hungarian league is not completely unknown to me either, as I also know some players, such as Loic Neto, who played football here before, ” Boumal said on the club’s website after signing.

This is Petrus’ 6th club and he will be looking to bounce back to his best. The midfeilder only managed three games during his time at Nizhny Novgorod.
