Brazil Cruises Past China 3-0 to Reach U-17 Women’s World Cup Quarterfinals
Brazil’s U-17 Women’s National Team, The Seleção, secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the *U-17 Women’s World Cup* with a decisive 3-0 victory over China on Tuesday. The Round of 16 match, played at the Football Academy Mohamed VI in Morocco, saw goals from Kaylane, Evelin, and Gi Iseppe.
This marked the team’s second win of the tournament, though their performance was a game of two halves.
Early Dominance and a Missed Chance
Brazil wasted no time, opening the scoring just two minutes into the match. Kaylane received a perfectly weighted through ball from defender Marina on the right flank. She burst into the box, skillfully cut past a defender, and unleashed a powerful right-footed shot that found the net between the goalkeeper and the post.
However, after taking the lead, Brazil seemed to ease off. China pressed forward, creating three dangerous chances that threatened goalkeeper Ana Morganti.
In stoppage time of the first half, the Seleção had a chance to double their lead when Kaylane again delivered a through ball to Evelin, who was brought down in the box between the Chinese defenders. Marina stepped up to take the resulting penalty, but her shot missed wide—a notable setback before the break.
Second-Half Surge Secures the Win
After the restart, Brazil regained control and settled the match with two quick goals in a dominant 15-minute spell.
The breakthrough came in the 53rd minute (the eighth minute of the half) with a stunning effort from Evelin. She collected the ball on the edge of the box on the right side and fired an unstoppable shot-cross that sailed directly into the top right corner of the Chinese goal—a truly spectacular strike.
Just minutes later, Gi Iseppe sealed the victory. Following a sweet pass from Evelin that pierced the Chinese defense, Iseppe simply had to beat goalkeeper Niu Ziqi to make it 3-0.
Looking Ahead
The commanding performance sends Brazil into the quarterfinals, where they will face the winner of the upcoming match between Canada and Zambia.
