Broos names 50-man provisional AFCON squad

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named his preliminary AFCON squad for the 2024 tournament.

The squad will be in meet at camp soon as they work towards making the final preperations for the the tournament set to be held in Ivory Coast.

Bafana will kick start the tournament with a group-stage clash against Mali on 16 January.

Then they meet Nambia on 21 January before then wrapping up the group stage campaign against North African powerhouses Tunisia on 24 January.

Bafana Bafana will be looking to lift the trophy for the first time since 1996.

There are some notable additions to the squad and one that has everyone in the English Premier League talking was the inclusion of Burnely’s Lyle Foster despite struggling with mental health issues.

His manager, Vincent Kompany hinted that the South African will be ready to return to action very soon.
