Burkina Faso 1-0 Tunisia: Stallions Match On To Semis

Chest out, cheeks puffed, and arms swinging, are the men of Kamou Malo, as they have booked a slot to the semis of this year’s AFCON.

It is going quite quick for the two best teams in group A; After the qualification of the host country, Cameroon, the second quarter-final opposed Burkina Faso, who defeated Gabon in the previous round, and Tunisia, who defeated Nigeria, with Burkina Faso getting the nod.

It seemed a balanced game on paper that ultimately turned to the advantage of the Stallions.

Whenever Tunisia had the ball, the Carthage Eagles committed unforced errors just before they lost it to Burkina Faso, whose midfeild of; Guira, Toure, and Outtara, saw most of the ball.

Minutes to the pose, Burkina Faso took the lead from a trademark, deadly counter-attack, finished by Dango Ouattara, with two minutes of added on time to the first half.

Outtara’s strike lasted until the final whistle, and this, in spite of several attempts by Tunisia, all checked by Koffi, with Outtara later being sent off with 8 minutes of regular play time left. The Stallions marshalled through the rest of the game unscathed.

Burkina Faso are therefore headed to the semi-finals where they will face either Senegal or Equatorial Guinea.
