Cadet Lions Suffer Successive Defeats To Senegal’s U17 In Prep. Games

After Senegal’s U17 defeated the cadet Lions 1-0 last Saturday, on Tuesday, the young Teranga Lions completed the double on their Cameroonian counterparts courtesy a 3-2 victory in Dakar.

The two games acted as part of the preparations for the TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations (U17 AFCON) scheduled for April in Algeria.

The tournament prep is far from good for the tournament holders Cameroon. Having travelled to Dakar for a double friendly confrontation with the selection of the under-17s of Senegal, the Cadet Lions of Cameroon conceded two defeats.

Young prodigy Amara Diouf scored twice for Senegal (4th, 48th minutes).

He was matched by the best 2023 UNIFFAC U17 player Angel Yondjo Matah with a brace of his own at the 50th and 53rd minute which made it two-all.

The Teranga Lions had their course made further easy through an own goal from Bandang in the 83rd minute.

The Cadet Lions will return home and continue preparations for the tournament billed from 29 April and 19 May 2023.

Cameroon is lodged in group C alongside Burkina Faso, Mali and South Sudan.
