CAF CC Quarter-Final: Sobhi Scores Late As Fearless Gallants Take Away Goal To SA

For the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals, Marumo Gallants forced Pyramids FC to a share of the spoils. The South African club scored before the Egyptians equalised in the dying moments of the game, as the final score read 1-1.

Pyramids FC tackled the first half with high intensity. During the first period, the Egyptian team made several attempts to take the lead in the game. However, Marumo Gallants’ defense remained impassable until half-time.

In the second half, the South Africans organised themselves to take advantage of the small spaces left by the players of Pyramids FC. Thus, in the 55th minute, Lucky Mohomi launched Ranga Chivaviro in space. The latter deceived the doorman of the Egyptian club and gifted the advantage to Marumo Gallants on the scoreboard.

Pyramids FC returned to the game in added time. Due to a penalty granted, Ramadan Sobhi scored in borrowed time (90+2) and allowed the Egyptians to come return in the tie. The game went on to end via the same scoreline (1-1). The two teams meet in a week for the second leg of the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup.
