CAF CCC: Jaraaf makes giant step towards knockout after defeating ASEC

Jaraaf of Dakar beat ASEC Mimosas of Abidjan (1-0) in a match counting for the 5th day of the CAF Confederations Cup, played on Sunday at the Abdoulaye Wade stadium in Diamniadio.

The only goal of the match was scored in the 26th minute by Abdoulaye Oualy.

With this second success in a row, the Senegalese team takes second place in Group C with 8 points, thus taking a big step towards qualifying for the quarter-finals.

Jaraaf coach Malick Daff welcomed his team’s “very important” victory against ASEC of Abidjan, saying that he will seek qualification on the next day in Algeria.

A draw against USM Alger would be enough for the Senegalese to reach the quarter-finals. They could even settle for a defeat if ASEC Mimosas (3rd, 5pts) fails to win against the Botswanans of Orapa United.
