CAF CCC: USMA leapfrog Orapa to make final 8 in style

USMA officially qualified for the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederations Cup, after beating Orapa United on Sunday afternoon, by a score of two goals to one.

In a match that was played in unfavorable weather conditions, the Red and Black did not take long to get into the thick of things. After putting pressure on the opposing woods, Gassama managed to unblock the situation with a nice header following a good cross from Ghacha in the 14th minute.

A goal that gave them more confidence. They created other opportunities to double the lead, but in vain.

On the Orapa United side, no reaction from the players who were under pressure from USMA throughout the first half. USMA led by one goal to zero, and it was on that score that the referee sent the 22 actors to the locker room.

After the break, the USMA did not take much time to double the lead. Only a quarter of an hour after the kick-off of the second half, Musa Alli, following a nice one-two with Gassama, served Ghacha. The latter, alone in front of the goal, have had no difficulty in putting the ball in the back of the net. Affected by the humidity, the USMA players regressed on the physical level. The locals tried to take advantage of it to put the record straight, but it delayed until the last moments of the match for Maloi to reduce the score at 90’+5.

USMA continue its domination of Group C and officially validated its ticket for the quarter-finals. Another good result in Africa which confirms its great ambition to go as far as possible in the African event.

It is useful to note that Orapa United is, on the other hand, officially eliminated from the competition.
