CAF CL: Esperance puts four pass Djibola in Rades
Esperance de Tunis started their CAF Champions League group stage campaign with a strong performance, comfortably beating Djoliba of Mali 4-0 at Stade Olympique de Rades on Tuesday evening.
The Tunisians showed their strength quickly, with Raed Bouchniba capitalising on a goalkeeper error to score in the second minute. Despite missing a chance to double their lead in the 35th minute, Elyes Mokwana scored five minutes later thanks to a superb pass from Youcef Belaili.
In the second half, Esperance continued to control the game, keeping up the pressure for more goals.
Young player Kossai Macha sealed the win with a goal in stoppage time after Oussama Bouguerra extended his team’s advantage in the 76th minute. Esperance gained their first three points in Group D with this significant victory, putting them in second place behind Pyramids FC of Egypt.
Thanks to their superior goal difference, Pyramids now top the group after beating Angolan side Sagrada Esperança 5-1. Esperance will look to maintain this momentum in their next group stage match in a bid to regain their African glory.
