CAF CL: Ahly Officialise Cotonsport’s ‘Whopping Boys’ Status In Group B

On the road in their delayed game day 1 encounter against Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the TotalEnergies CAF champions league, Cotonsport lost 3-0.

All three teams have now defeated Cotonsport in group B. Beaten two-nil a few days ago by the Sudanese side Al Hilal the Cottonites could not recover on Saturday in Cairo.

Traveling to Egypt for the third day of the CAF Champions League, the Cameroonian club lost (3-0) against Al Ahly. This is the third consecutive defeat of the formation of Garoua in this tournament. A result that does not help the affairs of the men of Gabriel Haman, the last of group B.

The Cameroonians took a long time to settle against the Egyptians who kept control of the game. Al Ahly was better organised offensively. In total, they had 7 shots including 4 on target for a second goal 5 minutes before the break.

Upon return from the locker room, Al Ahly still controlled. The Egyptian club registered 76% ball possession against 24% for Cotonsport.

The battered 17-time Cameroonian champions managed to resist somehow until the end, Raafat made in 3 in borrowed time (90 + 2). With this third defeat, Cotonsport, will go into the Al-Hilal clash on March 8 looking to reserve some pride.
