CAF CL: Ahly Pits Raja, Complete Last 8 Draws

The quarter-finals draw of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League was carried out on Wednesday by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Defending champions, Wydad Casablanca inherited a decent but tricky opponent in Simba sports club. Traveling to Tanzania in a scotching atmosphere is never easy but Raja who won 3-0 at Dar Es Salam in the group stage, should give Wydad some hope.

Raja in the grand scheme of things had the worst possible draw as they have to battle Egyptian representatives, Al Ahly. Present in the final of the last three editions (2 gold medals, one defeat), the Cairo giants had eliminated RCA at the same stage of the competition last year. While the Red Devils qualified for the quarters in pain, the hour of revenge is written all over the tie for the Moroccans?.

The two Algerian representatives will not start their ties as favourites. On a series of two consecutive eliminations in the quarter-finals, CR Belouizdad will have to contend with Mamelodi Sundowns, crowned winners in 2016 and who finished the group stage undefeated ahead of Al Ahly.

JS Kabylie will challenge Espérance Tunis, who justly defeated the other Algerian club, CRB in the group stage. EST has been less sovereign in recent years and was eliminated by ES Sétif last year at the same stage of the competition.

First leg matches shall be played on April 21 and 22, with the return matches scheduled for April 28 and 29.
