CAF CL: Belouizdad Upset Zamalek In Egypt

Chabab Riadhi Belouizdad defeated 5-time TotalEnergies CAF champions league winners Zamalek in the opening match day of group D.

CR Belouizdad returned with a precious victory from Egypt where they beat Zamalek on Friday 1-0 at the Cairo International Stadium.

The only goal of the game, counting for the 1st day of Group D of the CAF champions league, was scored by Cameroonian youth international, Wamba Djouffo Leonel in the 57th minute for CRB.

The former 2019 AFCON Under-17 winner scored in his very first game at the CAF-interclub competitions.

Wamba was snapped from Spartaks Jumalia in the Latvian first-tier where he scored 14 goals in 25 games, and he now looks like he is regaining his best form with Belouizdad.

The other Group D match will pit Tunisians ES Tunis against Sudanese side Al Merrikh on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. in Tunis.

CRB will play game day 2 between February 17-18 against Espérance Tunis, before moving to Khartoum to challenge Al-Merrikh on game day three.
