CAF CL: Jwaneng Galaxy sends shock waves around the continent, with shocking win over Wydad
Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy made waves across the continent with a stunning 1-0 away victory against Moroccan giants Wydad AC in a TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Group B match in Casablanca.
In only their second appearance in the group stages of the continent’s premier club competition, Galaxy not only topped the group but did so in historic fashion, securing their first-ever victory in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League group stages.
A critical error in the 33rd minute led to Galaxy forward Thabang Sesinyi capitalizing on the mistake, scoring the only goal that hushed the crowd and marked one of the most significant upsets in recent competition history.
This historic win propels the Southern African side from Botswana to the summit of the group, following a 1-1 draw between Simba AC and Asec Mimosas in the earlier Saturday kickoff.
