CAF CL: Setback For Belouizdad With Defeat At Home To ES Tunis

CR Belouizdad have been foiled at home after their perfect start to this year’s TotalEnergies CAF champions league with a defeat against ES Tunis in Algeria. This comes on the back of an impressive one-nil win in Egypt against Zamalek.

Libyan Hamdou Elhouni scored nine minutes from time to earn four-time champions Esperance a 1-0 victory over Chabab Belouizdad of Algeria.

The Group D result was a setback for the Algiers club, who had fancied their chances of securing three more points after a shock matchday 1 win over Zamalek of Egypt in Cairo.

In the other match in group D played on Friday, the Sudanese side Al-Merreikh and Egyptian giants Zamalek drew (0-0).

At the end of day two matches, ES Tunis leads the standings with six points, ahead of CRB (3 points), while Zamalek and Al Merreikh are 3rd and 4th respectively with one point each.
