CAF CL: Sundowns Completes Double Over Al Ahly

Defending champion Al Ahly lost again to Mamelodi Sundowns on match day four of the CAF Champions League.

As in the first leg in Cairo, Al Ahly fell 1-0 on the patch of South African juggernauts, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Namibian forward Peter Shalulile scored at the 23rd minute, a goal that puts Sundowns in the driver’s seat, headed for the quarter-finals with 6 points clear at the top.

For her part, the last winner of the champions league (Ahly) shares 2nd place in group A with Sudanese club-sides; Al Hilal and Al Merreikh, who look set to battle until the end.

There were reports of heated exchanges at the post match presser between Pitso and former ally Manqoba Mngqithi, but there are more pressing issues on the hands of Pitso, who recently prolonged his contract.

Al Ahly will have to get convincing results against Al Merrikh and Al Hilal, to ensure that they make the quarter finals.
