CAF CL: Zamalek Hold Petro In Angola

Zamalek held off Petro Luanda (0-0) on Saturday, March 19, in Angola. It was on the occasion of match day 5 of Group D of the CAF Champions League.

It was a disappointing draw for the Angolan side who lost their lead atop group D, to Wydad Casablanca.

The two teams ended the game on absolute parity (0-0), just like in the first leg (2-2).

That is the third draw for the White Knights of Zamalek, already eliminated, but maintain third place with 3 points after five match days.

Petro Luanda are now second with 11 points, one less than Wydad Casablanca, who took the lead in the group with a smooth 2-1 victory over Sagrada Esperança.

Zamalek are stuck on 99 CAF champions league wins, and it seems one more victory to get the team to 100, is illusive. Zamalek lastly won in the competition in the prelims. Against Tusker FC of Kenya.
