CAF Confed Cup Draw: Al Ittihad takes Shots At Ahli Tripoli Ahead Of Libyan Derby

It was no fluke when erstwhile Angolan footballer and Ahly star – Amadou Flavio, confirmed that the Libyan derby, which pits Al-Ahly Tripoli against Al-Ittihad, will be the strongest quarter-final confrontation of the CAF Confederations Cup.

He was on the sidelines of the ceremony on April 6, at the headquarters of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and Flavio indicated that the four confrontations are tough, while paying extra details on the Libyan derby, explaining that the tie will be the most difficult given the atmosphere on match days in Libya.

Ittihad wasted no time in firing warning signals at Ahli Tripoli.

Al-Ittihad posted on their official handles, after the draw, saying:”Al-Ittihad is ready for the two matches and our ambition is to reach the semi-finals, and with the support of the public, we will achieve that.”

The winner of the Simba and Orlando Pirates match will play against the winner of the Libyan derby between Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahly Tripoli.

It is indeed heating up already as the both sides are showing their readiness.

The first leg will be on the 17th of this month, and the return match will be on the 24th.
