CAF Confed. Cup: Zakaria’s first half double against Sfaxien helps Constantine to last 8
A second Algerian club qualified for the quarter-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederations Cup on Sunday. After USM Alger a little earlier, it was CS Constantine’s turn to secure its ticket, following its 3-0 victory over CS Sfaxien
A goal in the first half, two more in the second period coupled with the genius of Zakaria Benchaa, who netted a double, notably, sent CS Constantine to the quarter-finals.
Zakaria started his evening in the 30th minute, by opening the scoring on a service from Brahim Dib. In the 70th minute, the Benchaa-Dib combo wonders for Constantine again.
On a second assist from the captain, Zakaria Benchaa doubled the lead.
At the end of the game, in the 90th+4, Mounder Temine definitively sealed the fate of CS Sfaxien with a third goal, on an assist from Laïd Chahine Bellaouel.
This victory is the fourth for CS Constantine in this competition, and the second match in a row without conceding a goal.
CS Constantine are credited with 12 points and lead group A. They will try to maintain first spot on the patch of Simba SC, on the occasion of the 6th and last day.
