CAF president Patrice Motsepe hints at Eto’o’s suspension from football related activities

Months ago, Cameroonian football stakeholders alarmed  CAF about the management of FECAFOOT by Samuel Eto’o, stating: match fixing (including leaked audio conversations with the president of Victoria United), abuse of power and favoritism.

In the process, the continental body released a press release, adding that an investigation was going to take place.

Questioned about the affair during an interview on France 24, Samuel Eto’o admited that he did not expect such a release and intended to file a complaint against the Confederation of African Football.

“I was never questioned about what I was accused of. I therefore instructed my lawyers to file a complaint against CAF and for responsibilities to be established. It was too easy to destroy everything I had built during these few years in the world of football. CAF launched a press release far too early and this behavior is unacceptable.” Eto’o stated.

On the same French channel this Wednesday, Patrice Motsepe, the president of CAF, responded to the Cameroonian legend.

“No one, starting with me, is above the law.

“I respected Eto’o as a player and I still do, but we are taking of CAF and FIFA laws”

Motsepe’s response hints at a posible suspension on Eto’o after a hearing earlier this month in Cairo.
