CAF Women’s CL: FAR make light work of Mande, set enthralling semi-final clash against Sundowns
AS FAR qualified for the semi-finals of the 3rd edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League after its 2-0 victory on Sunday against Mandé Sports Association of Mali, in match day three of Group B played at the Stade Laurent Pokou in San Pedro stadium, Cote D’Ivoire.
The first goal (own goal) was scored in the 5th minute by Malian player Fatou Dembele against her side, thus giving the advantage to the FAR.
In the 37th minute of the game, Fatima Tagnoaut widened the gap thanks to a penalty.
In the other match of the group, Huracanes of Equatorial Guinea lost to their Ghanaian counterpart Ampem Darkoa by 1-3.
With that win, AS FAR, defending champions, occupy 2nd place in group B with a total of 6 points, behind Ampem Darkoa of Ghana (6-points).
In the semi-final, AS FAR will play against South African side Mamelodi Sundoows, while Sporting Casablanca will face Ampem Darkoa of Ghana.
The semi-final matches will be played on Wednesday and the final on November 19.
CAF Women’s Champions League, the most important continental women’s football club competition in Africa, pits champions of the six CAF zones against each other, with the host country adding one team.
The two previous editions took place in Egypt in 2021 and in Morocco in 2022.
