CAF Women’s CL: HASAACAS Falls DOWN BEFORE SUN IN Finale

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have made history by defeating Hasaacas Ladies 2-0 to clinch the inaugural edition of the just ended CAF Women’s Champions League, in Egypt.

After all the hype and off – pitch talks, COSAFA juggernauts Mamelodi Sundowns have taken it at last!

A goal in each half did the trick for the Masandawana, who went through the tournament with an unerring record of 5-0.

Cheune Morifi broke the deadlock at the 33rd minute, and Andisiwe Mgcoyi inflicted more damage on the Ghanaian representatives with 65 minutes gone.

Sundowns then held on to go atop The pyramid after three weeks of hostilities between 8 teams in Egypt.

Quite remarkable the run of both sides in the competition, as they defended their ‘favorites’ tag ever so well. After the two made it through as group leaders in group A (Hasaacas) and group B (Mamelodi) with 7 points each, Hasaacas defeated FAR (2-1) in the semis, while Sundowns leapfrogged Malabo Kings (5-4) on penalties before their meeting.

Malabo Kings lost 3-1 to FAR earlier in the third place playoffs, with FAR completing the medal table.
