CAF Women’s CL: Kings Back – In Contention, Mande Out Of The Mix In Group A

Malabo Kings have blown group A of the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League open, with their three – nil victory over hosts Wadi Degla on match day two on November 8.

The UNIFFAC representatives mis – placed their first step in the tourney after a 3-1 defeat suffered in the hands of group leaders Hasaacas Ladies.

The Kings however opened day two and more than impressed. Drepogba Gbogou’s brace eased some nerves. The latter converted from 12 yards for her first of two goals at the 12th minute before completing her brace with a well – placed header from an inch – perfect cross, right on the money from Grace Mfwamba cross.

Grace Mfwamba turned from assist provider to goal scorer at the 58th minute of the second half. The victory takes Malabo Kings to second place momentarily, while awaiting the final playing day .

As Kings revived hopes of sailing through to the knockout rounds, so did AS Mande book a flight back home.

Evelyn Badu, inarguably the player of the tourney thus far, bagged her second brace against AS Mande.

Badu struck a minute after the first quarter of the game. Perpetual Agyekum’s effort garnished the lead before
Evelyn piled on the misery yet again at the 58th minute with her second on the day.

The results obtained on day 2 of group A has changed the dynamics of the group.
