CAF Women’s CL: Lelona Daweti At Double As Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies Start Where They Stopped

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies kicked off their CAF Women’s Champions League campaign with a 2-1 win courtesy Daweti Lelona’s double.

The defending champions beat Bayelsa Queens, though, through the slightest of margins.

The South African club are the defending champions, after their coronation in 2021 in the inaugural women’s tournament.

The Downs Ladies started the defense of the trophy on Monday with striker Lelona Daweti, doing what she does best, scoring a brace in the 31st and 57th minutes of play.

Bayelsa Queens however,  halved deficit through Mary-Magdalene Anjor  10 minutes from the end of the game, but it did not change the completion of the match

Thanks to the 2-1 victory, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies lead Group B with 3 points. The competition started on October 30 and takes place in Morocco until November 13 in the Moroccan cities of: Rabat and Marrakech.
