CAF Women’s CL: Mazembe Stumbles Despite Sniff At Semis Slot
TP Mazembe have been eliminated from the African Women’s Champions League, despite starting in fine fertile.
South African representatives – Mamelodi Sundowns beat the Ravens (4-0), on Sunday November 6, 2022, at the Stade de Marrakech in Morocco.
Sundowns dominated the game from start to finish. They opened the scoring in the 19th minute through a converted penalty by Nhlapo for one-nil.
Then, the holders doubled the lead in the 40th minute through Daweti, before adding a third goal, four minutes after the break thanks to Kgadiete, then concluding proceedings in the 90th minute with a Kekana strike ( 4-0).
On match day 1, Mazembe beat Wadi Degla of Egypt (1-0). After the first encounter, the Central African Champions lost (0-2), last Wednesday November 2, against the Bayelsa Queens of Nigeria. This defeat to Sundowns condemns Mamdembe to an early exit, as Bayelsa Queens go through to the next round.
