CAF Women’s CL: Wadi Degla, Hasaacas Ladies Claim Maximum points On Opening Day
Hosts Wadi Degla and Hasaacas Ladies took the front in the historic CAF Women’s Champions League debut tourney which kick – started on Nov. 5 in Cairo, Egypt.
First up on the day was the game pitting Wadi Degla against AS Mande.
WAFU zone toppers – AS Mande prolly ran into stage fright as they conceded three goals in the much anticipated opener, and replied just once.
Noha Mamdouh opened the scoring for Degla, before Fatamata Dukureh doubled the money at the 10th minute.
Awa Traore halved the deficit for AS Mande, but Jasmin Theresa put the game beyond reach of AS Mande, 3 minutes after the pose to make it 3-1 for Wadi Degla.
The second game pitting Hasaacas Ladies against Malobo Kings was a complete mirror of the first, with prolly the same story line in the game, and same goal – count.
Hasaacas Ladies got the better of UNIFFAC reps – Malabo Kings.
It all really started with Evelyn Badu’s 11th minute strike that illuminated the game. The time between the first and second goal for Hasaacas Ladies was miles apart, as they only doubled tally, through a sumptuous direct free kick, at the 85th minute, via Pepertual Agyekum.
Malabo Kings pulled one back through – Stephanie – with a minute of the regular 90 left, and in a bid to salvage parity, Hasaacas distraught Kings who were pushing for an equaliser. Evelyn Badu struck her second to complete a brace, and hand the Ghanaian WAFU – B representatives an opening victory.
Wadi Degla and Hasaacas Ladies pilot group A as they are level on 3 points apiece. Nothing is however settled in group A with two more match days to go. The next pair of games in this group comes up on November 8;
