Cameroon cup: Colombe puts an end to Eding’s ‘fairytale run’
Colombe leapfrogged Eding Sports 2-1 at the Omnisport Annex 1 stadium in yaounde, to set a semi final date against Victoria United or Fovu.
Eding had their work cut short after eliminating holders Cotonsport in the round of 16, but Colombe Sportive, yet to win the prestigious tournament, are well on course to a maiden trophy.
It was the Sangmelima outfit who got the opener at the 14th minute through Patrice Anyouaze. Eding Sport replied 6 minutes after the half hour mark through marksman, Harrison Djonkep, who made it one-all.
The game was fairly balanced between the two top-flight sides before Valentin Beo Batto made the difference at the 83rd minute.
Eding Sport won the title in 2018 and looked set to engage in that scintillating run once more, but Colombe had other ideas.
In the regular season of the MTN Elite One, Colombe won the first round in group A but latter crumbled. They are looking to end the campaign on a high, with a possible first ever Cameroon cup win.
