Cameroon vs Algeria: Moumi Ngamaleu Flags Red, Marou Souaibou Comes In

One of Cameroon’s most productive players in the last one-and-half year, Moumi Ngamaleu, has pulled out of the double confrontation against Algeria, prolly due to Injury as a statement from the media officer of the Indomitable Lions reads.

‘Moumi Ngamaleu will miss the double confrontation against Algeria on March 25 and 29, 2022 counting for the play-offs of the #FIFAWC2022Q African zone. He will be replaced by Cotonsport midfielder Souaibou Marou.’ the statement ends.

This is happening barely 2 days after Zambo Anguissa was equally announced to miss the clash.

But just like Anguissa, interestingly, Ngamaleu played 90 minutes in his side’s 2-1 loss to Zurich on Saturday, and didn’t seem to limp off or anything.

Souaibou coming in for Ngamaleu

As reported in the case of Zambo Anguissa, Moumi Ngamaleu is of the the players who was attached to Conceiçao and reportedly didn’t like how he was fired.

Under Conceiçao, Ngamaleu was a different kind of player, playing over 20 games in his spell, scoring twice and assisting 11, on his way to the bronze medal of the AFCON 2021.

Coming in for Moumi is Marou Souaibou, Cotonsport’s highest goal scorer in the CAF Confederations Cup this campaign with four goals.

Souaibou becomes the second player to come in from Cotonsport after 16 year old Wassou Goue.
