Cameroon vs Mozambique: Samuel Oum Gouet Promises Victory

Former U23 Lions skipper – Samuel Oum Gouet, now an inductee of Cameroon’s senior men’s national team, has promised fans of a victory come Oct. 8, when the Lions face Mozambique in Douala, on the third playing day of the WC qualifiers in Douala.

The 23 year old Mechelen midfeilder made some striking utterances during the second training session of the Lions today at the Japoma Annex stadium at 5 pm.

‘We are aware of what the fans await from us. We are here to win,’ Oum stated.

Samuel Oum Gouet and his teammates came under a huge backlash after their defeat to Cote D’Ivoire on September 6.

Fans took matters into their hands and perhaps went overboard with harsh words, prolly the reason for Oum promising better on home soil, this Friday.

The former SC Altach man says camp is bubbling ahead of the game with all players fully concentrated.

‘We have already started with the game from our training session. We have a solid team. Unity reigns in the group.’

Posed the question of how he is personally dealing with the competition in the midfeild with a long list of credible performers in the team all looking for a starting role, the lad responded; ‘competition is what bulks up the general performance of the team.’

Transferred to Belgian top-flight side Mechelen in the summer, Oum has been a kingpin in the middle of the park, playing a part in all 10 games for his team and assisting once in that time.
