Castelleto’s Nantes Pip Monaco To French Cup Final
In a sold-out stadium Louis Fonteneau stadium, Jean Charles Castelleto and Nantes won their ticket to the Coupe de France final by beating Monaco 4-2 on post match penalties, after the game ended 2-2 in regular time.
It was a pleasant and enjoyable to watch because of the pace set by the two teams, as Monaco drew first.
It came via a free kick from Caio Henrique, and Maripan placed his header above the reach of Descamps to open the scoring at the 12th minute. 27 year old Castelleto and co didn’t fret.
A few minutes later, the Chilean defender was caught on the ball by Kolo Muani.
The latter accelerated in the Monaco camp before crossing for Simon. Sidibe’s attempted clearance turned into an own goal at the 21st minute.
Samuel Moutoussamy thought he had scored the ultimate goal to send Nantes to the final at the 74th minute, but Monaco came back through Boadu (76).
It took the lottery of penalty shootout to find a winner. Moses Simon scored the winning penalty as it ended 4-2, after Tchouameni and Ben Yedder missed their efforts for Monaco.
Nantes will meet Nice in the final of the Coupe de France on May 8.
