CHAN 2022: DR Congo Underwhelms In Draw Against Uganda

The national teams of DR Congo and Uganda drew 0-0 in a match counting for the 1st day of Group B of the African Nations Championship on Saturday at the May 19, 1956 stadium in Annaba.

Coach Milutin Sredojević pulled off a tactical master-class for the Uganda Cranes to keep the two-time CHAN winners Congo at bay.

Uganda nearly did more than just holding the tournament favorites to a tie. The Cranes came closest to opening scores in the second half when Gift Fred’s header rattled the upright.

Skipper, Issama Mpeko and his Congolese teammates just slightly seemed uninspired as coach Ngoma watched on from the technical area.

The second group B opposed Côte d’Ivoire to Senega at 8:00 p.m. Senegal won one-nil and they’re now top of group B.

On match day 2 scheduled for Wednesday at the May 19, 1956 stadium in Annaba, DR Congo will face Côte d’Ivoire (5:00 p.m.), while Senegal will face Uganda (8:00 p.m.).
