CHAN 2023: Cameroon Set To Camp In Morocco

The Intermediate Lions of Cameroon are set to camp in Morocco as per information gathered by the sportglizt crew, before the Africa Nations Championship starts in Algeria next January.

Currently in camp just a little over 14 days, sportglizt can confirm that coach Saidou Alioum and his technical staff will give the players a breather on Saturday, Dec. 24.

Immediately after the Christmas break, the provisional list of 30 will be narrowed to 23 before the team leaves for Morocco between January 1st to 2nd, where they will have some friendlies, and then make the trip to Algeria for the competition expected to start on January 13.

The Intermediate Lions have had a sprawling preparation; first, Cameroon’s World Cup – farewell game against Jamaica that was played virtually by local players with the exception of Vincent Aboubakar, before the team got summoned on December 13.

Hosts of the last edition of the Africa Nations Championship, the intermediate Lions ended fourth behind third placed Guinea, runners-up Mali, and eventual winners, Morocco.

A 2-0 win against Equatorial Guinea in September earned Cameroon a ticket to the tournament finals.

This is Cameroon’s fourth participation in the competition and the country’s best return was the 5th place finish in in 2020.
