Charlene Meyong Scores First Goal For Meizhou Hakka

Indomitable Lionesses forward – Charlene Meyong Menene opened her goal account in the Chinese Women’s Super League, for her new side Meizhou Hakka, against Sichuan Women.

In a clash that saw bottom of the log Sichuan Women go up against Guangdong Meizhou Hakka, no one tipped outsiders – Sichuan to be competition – but they surprisingly took the lead in the second half.

Rookie Charlene Meyong then equalised to save the away side from an embarrassing defeat.

On her official FB handle, the forward wrote:’Boosted by the victory of the national team last weekend against the Central African Republic, I gave everything alongside my teammates at Meizhou Hakka FC to snatch a point against a solid Sichuan Women side!’

Up next for Charlene and co is a home game on Friday 29 against Zhejiang women who are second from the bottom, and are yet to register a victory this campaign.

The objectives of Meizhou Hakka has since changed since its take – over by the men’s Football team of Meizhou Hakka in December 2020.

22 year old Charlene and her side are still very much in contention for the Championship that was won in 2020 by Wuhan Jianghan University.

Going by her impressive goal scoring statistics at Louves once she hit the ground running in the past, Meizhou Hakka fans should be licking their lips in delight for what lies ahead – in the remainder of the regular season, and perhaps the playoffs.
