Charles Ahoua’s converted spot kick earns Simba maximum points against Bravos
Former Orlando Pirates co-coach Fadlu Davids led Simba SC to a narrow 1-0 victory over Bravos do Maquis in a Group A match of the CAF Confederation Cup at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Wednesday.
Charles Ahoua scored the decisive goal for Simba in the 27th minute from the penalty spot. Maquis, who have South African international Abednego Mosiatlhaga in their ranks, were awarded a penalty late in the game.
However, Nigerian international Emmanuel Edmond’s attempt was saved by Simba goalkeeper Moussa Camara.
Simba’s victory was hard-fought, with goalkeeper Camara playing a crucial role in denying Maquis several scoring opportunities. The win has propelled Simba to the top of Group A with three points.
Davids is no stranger to the Confederation Cup. He guided Pirates to the final as a co-coach with Mandla Ncikazi in the 2022 season, where they lost to RS Berkane.
At Simba, who are top of the table in Tanzania Premier League, Davids is assisted by two South African internationals, Wayne Sandilands and Darren Wilkens.
