Chem Herbert’s ‘Golazo’ Cements PWD’s Name In History Books

Thanks to a Chem Herbert finish, PWD football club of Bamenda won its first Cameroon Cup winners medal against Astres of Douala on March 13.

After several false starts, the Cameroon Cup final was held on March 13, 2022 at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium.

Despite facing off against a strong setup of Les Astret, PWD of Bamenda, who were tipped favorites to clinch the final courtesy a well-determined organization, wrote their name on the record book of winners of the Cameroon Cup.

The boys of David Pagou won through Chem Herbert’s 25th minute thunderbolt, that helped the Abakwa Boys lift the Cameroon Cup for the first time, becoming the latest English speaking club to lift the trophy since YOSA in 2013.

Unlike previous editions, this event seemed to have drawn little enthusiasm in the Cameroonian capital despite the remarkable presence of the staff of the national football team.

After two failures in 1967 and 1979, PWD of Bamenda finally bagged home the trophy.

They claim the trophy from Stade Renard of Melong who previously won 2019.
