Clinical Brazil U-17 Side Downs Hosts Morocco 3-0 in World Cup Opener
Rabat, Morocco – October 17, 2025 – Brazil’s U-17 women’s national team delivered a commanding performance to defeat tournament hosts Morocco 3-0 in the opening match of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025™. The Seleção showcased their attacking efficiency, with goals coming from Evelin, Giovanna Waksman, and Allyne Vithorya De Oliveira Sales Braga.
The match, which marked the highly anticipated start of the first-ever Women’s World Cup on African soil, was played in front of a passionate crowd at the Olympic Stadium Annex Sports Complex Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat.
Brazil wasted little time asserting their dominance, finding the net early through forward Evelin in the 12th minute. Evelin, who had spoken of the team’s hope for a victory prior to the match, converted an opportunity to give the South American giants the crucial lead.
The early setback didn’t deter the young Moroccan side, who battled hard to contain Brazil’s creative midfield. However, the visitors’ class shone through just before the break. Highly-rated midfielder Giovanna Waksman doubled Brazil’s advantage in the 36th minute, settling any nerves and giving her team a comfortable 2-0 cushion heading into halftime.
The second half saw Morocco show flashes of potential, pushed on by the energy of the home support, but their efforts to break down the Brazilian defense were repeatedly thwarted. Brazil’s backline remained resolute, limiting the host nation to few clear-cut chances.
Brazil sealed the victory late in the game when Allyne Vithorya De Oliveira Sales Braga added a third goal in the 75th minute. The goal was a testament to Brazil’s sustained attacking threat and effectively ended any remaining hopes of a Moroccan comeback.
The 3-0 result sees Brazil start their campaign with a crucial three points and a strong goal difference in Group A. While it was a tough baptism for the young Atlas Lionesses on the world stage, the experience of playing a top-tier opponent like Brazil will undoubtedly be invaluable as they look ahead to their next group fixtures.
For Brazil, the clinical finishing demonstrated by Evelin, Waksman, and Allyne Vithorya serves notice to the rest of the competition that they are serious contenders in Morocco 2025™.
