Born and raised in the heart of the continent, Coach Alfred Aboya’s journey has taken him around the world, honing his skills and passion for basketball.

Haven played for about 11 different clubs around the world and was part of the winningest class of UCLA with 123 wins as a player and coached lowa wolves as assistant coach and in the NBA academy.

Now, he’s back, eager to share his wealth of knowledge with the next generation.

Reflecting on the recent U18 Afrobasket, where over 40 young talents and 15 dedicated coaches convened, Coach Aboya emphasizes that true success lies in nurturing and guiding aspiring athletes towards their full potential.

From Camps to College: A Tale of Triumph:
For Coach Aboya, witnessing the growth of youngsters from local camps to national teams and even prestigious universities in the United States is a source of immense pride and fulfillment. His mission? To see more dreams take flight, just as his did.

After enduring six knee surgeries and a lifetime of training, Coach Aboya understands the toll elite sports can take on the body. Embracing a new passion for mentorship and community upliftment, his retirement decision was a natural progression towards a legacy of empowerment.
“So it wasn’t so hard to make that decision” Alfred Aboya” I found passion in giving back and I realized that this same drive can be instilled in kids “


Empowering Tomorrow’s Stars:


Having recently led a FIBA regional youth camp in Douala for boys, Coach Aboya’s dedication is unwavering as he gears up for his fourth camp in Côte d’Ivoire, this time for young female athletes. Alongside coaching Cameroon’s national male basketball team, his instrumental role in securing Cameroon’s first trophy in Lagos- Nigeria underscores his commitment to excellence and growth.
