Dynamo of Douala has given up top stop in Group A with two matches to spare in the regular phase of the elite one championship following a painful 2-1 loss to Colombe on Matchday-16 in Yaoundè.
ClĂ©ment Aroga’s team went to the late kickoff at the Ngoa Ekelle Stadium knowing they must avoid defeat in order to stay top of the pack having watched Canon eased through Bamboutos earlier at the same venue.
The Bon Ba Djob who have been without a win sice Matchday-13 set course to another enduring point late in the first half when Jordan Dimitri leveled Batoum’s 18th minute openner for the Doves.
Richard Towa saw his foot-soldiers drop two points against AS Fortuna three days wouldn’t have been happy if the spoils were shared considering his fine run against sides from the economic capital. The gaffer had successfully beaten Astre and Union before his meeting with Dynamo.
Much of the last segment unfolded with either side taking turns in attempting to re-establish a lead resulting in both defences being stretched out very often.Colombe did look favorites to score, mounting more attacking runs and winning set pieces.
Florent Batoum who joined Colombe Sportive on loan from Dynamo finally sealed the winner in the 90th minute had the ball placed to him from near side and didn’t hesitate to fire into the net of his mother club after goalkeeper Anye Derrick failed to deal with the deadly cross.
Haunted by one their own, Dynamo finally seeds leadership of the pack Canon with two matches left while for Colombe, victory means they edge closer to Bamboutos whom they face next before concluding the round at home to Aigle Royale of Menoua.
