Cote D’Ivoire League 1: ASEC Wins Title After Two Years

Mainland Cote D’Ivoire club ASEC Mimosas won a record making 27th title on Saturday June 26, after a dead rubber (0-0) against San Pedro, at the Champroux stadium.

By virtue of that result, they replaced Racing Club d’Abidjan as holders.

The buildup to Saturday’s game was electric as it was considered a final.

Out of four teams playing the championship round, two teams managed to climb to battle till the very end; FC San-Pedro, 2nd with 7 points and Asec Mimosas, 1st with 9 points.

As the so called god of football will do it, these two teams met on match day 6. Asec Mimosas had destiny in their own hands, and went on to do the essential with the parity scoreline.
This is the first time since 2018, Asec Mimosas have won the title.
