Cotonsport Arrive Egypt Ahead Of CAF champions league Decider

Cameroon’s mythical club, Cotonsport of Garoua have safely touched down on Egyptian soil ahead of their delayed game day 1 clash against Ahly.

The team left Cameroon via the nation’s economic capital of Douala on Monday, before arriving Cairo where they have now settled at the Ramade hotel.

After two defeats in as many games, Cotonsport of Garoua will face Al Ahly and Al-Hilal in a delayed game day 1 and match day 8 on March 4 and 8 with the obligation to do better.

Last in Group B of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, Cotonsport is in bad shape. Indeed, the Garoua-based club totals two defeats in as many matches.

Ahly themselves are in all sorts of trouble. The 10-time winners of the CAF Champions League have only a point on the log and will not want to let it go further points on its home ground.

In 2017, during the group stage, the Red Devils beat the Cottonites in their double confrontation (0-2 and 3-1). The Egyptians have also never lost against Cotonsport in their last 8 confrontations on the African scene (5 wins and 3 draws).

Facing a team that possesses quantity and quality, the mission promises to be very difficult for the men of Gabriel Haman. After its stay in Cairo, Cotonsport will head for Khartoum in Sudan. The 2008 CAF champions league beaten finalists will face Al-Hilal Omdurman after their stop in Egypt. The reversed fixture in Garoua ended 2-1 in favour of Hilal.

The Sudanese occupy second place in the group with 6 points under coach Florent Ibenge, while Sundowns are top with 7 points.
