Cotonsport Vs. Sundowns: ‘Football Na For Feild’ – Coach Agbor Ernest

Cotonsport’s co-coach Agbor Ernest has remained unbothered about Mamelodi Sundowns’ scintillating run of 15 straight wins, while admitting that in football, everything is possible within 90 minutes.

Mamelodi Sundowns come into their TotalEnergies CAF champions league game against Cotonsport in blistering form, while for Coton, its been argy-bargy with an ongoing season plagued with inconsistency in the domestic championship.

Coach Agbor however maintains that football is unpredictable and anything could happen in 90 minutes with the usage of pidgin English, stating ‘football na for field’.

There has been some upsets already on match day one of the TotalEnergies CAF champions league with giants Zamalek, defeated in Cairo by CR Belouizdad.

A victory in the offing would really make nonsense of all the pre match talks and book makers’ prediction, but Cotonsport has shown in recent times that they could turn the screw under pressure.

Contonsport left from the bottom half of their group before claiming a 17th title last term. Under coach Souleymanou Aboubakar, the Cottonites equally made the semi of the 2021 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation cup, after impressive wins in Garoua.

Coach Agbor Ernest will hope that the spirit of the 2008 team engulfs the youngsters as Cotonsport makes her return to the competition after a 5-year absence. Cotonsport roll their sleeves in a bout against Downs at 5 pm local time on Friday.

A win for Cotonsport will give their campaign ‘long legs’ in group B ahead of games against Al Hilal and Al Ahly in the coming weeks.
