Cotonsport vs TP Mazembe: Souleymanou Aboubakar Masters The Situation

Cotonsport trainer Souleymanou Aboubakar has told reporters that he knows what is awaited from his team against TP Mazembe in the CAF Confederations Cup, and has promised a positive Cotonsport side on March 13.

For starters, Cotonsport log horns against TP Mazambe for the second time within a fortnight, in an enthralling encounter that could decide the complexion of group C, on match day four – of the Confederations Cup.

‘We know the situation in which we find ourselves. Playing at home is an opportunity for us to get back to contention.

‘We had two games away, one at home, unlike others in the first round. Maybe fanatics will say we have just two points, but others (teams in group C); ‘editor’s pick’ – are not too far ahead. We will try to get more points to remain on course,’ Souleymanou responded, when quizzed about the stakes of the game.

The 2021 Elite One winning coach went on to drop hints on possible additions to the side, in the crucial encounter build for March 13, at 2 pm.

‘We have some new comers who will certainly play. We know that Mazembe is first, but 3 games are still left. We have all our chances to go through in the competition.

‘Mazembe are African giants, but this is however a totally different competition in a different year. I know that we must win to go through,’ coach Souleymanou opined.

The last meeting between these two ended in total heartache for Cotonsport – who were solid at the back for 80 plus minutes, only for Likonza’s 86th minute strike to dissolve their defensive wall.

Cotonsport are bottom with 2 points at this moment, and the 16-time Elite champions might want to start picking up maximum points, so as to avoid an early exit.
