Djiboutian Football Federation Dismiss Coach Julien Mette

The Djiboutian Football Federation on Tuesday Oct. 12 announced via a statement, the sacking of coach Julien Mette.

Beneath is a statement to that effect;

Due to catastrophic results registered in the qualifiers of the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers, and glimpses of unprofessional behavior from a high level trainer, the FDF has decided to sack coach National team trainer Mister Julien Mette.

For further information, a press conference will be held on Oct. 18 at the National Technical Center.

Burkina Faso killed any hope Djibouti had in Group A with a 2-0 win over Djibouti at the start of the week.

Issoufou Dayo and then Adboul Tapsoba, with his fourth goal in three internationals, ensured the Stallions’ win in the Moroccan city of Marrakech, with Burkina Faso another nation unable to host international matches.

Djibouti played the last 23 minutes with 10 men after Aptidon Daher was shown a straight red card.

French coach Julien Mette, who had been in charge since April 2019, for what it called became a casualty after the game.

The loss leaves Djibouti bottom of the group without a single point, having conceded 18 and scoring just two goals in their four World Cup qualifiers.
