Elite One: Club Presidents Begin To Cash Out

According to information from Cfoot, the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot), has proceeded to give clubs the second installment of sponsorship monies owed on Thursday, which is around the environs of 11 million.

The red flags were raised once the association of club presidents converged for a meeting in the course of the week, having reportedly received just 12 million out of the 48 million FCFA promised at the start of the season.

With the season set to soon end, FECAFOOT has still not cashed out the 36 million FCFA which should go to the first division clubs, even in the Elite Two Championship, which club presidents consider long overdue.

In response, Pascal Abunde, the president of the Association of Elite Clubs of Cameroon (ACEC), summoned the bosses of the Elite One and Two clubs for a meeting to be held in Yaounde next Friday. Top of the agenda was the financial situation of the clubs.

In the past, meetings of such have led to an abrupt end of the championship, which punctures the calendar in the Cameroonian Championship every other season.

Indomitable Lions legend and now FECAFOOT president, Samuel Eto’o has always talked of bringing back the glory days of Cameroonian football, and the FECAFOOT boss will understandably not want to take any chances.
